Up to 80% of the heat loss in a home is through the roof, simply put heat rises.
There are also issues regarding air infiltration, thermal mass, cooler
temperatures rising from the ground into your home, and more. This report
was done in 1982 but the findings on the efficiencies of thermal mass in log
homes vs R-values were pleasantly surprising....
